Moreover, it can also lead to several health benefits if you quit this bad habit. If you are a smoker, you should better stop smoking before it's too late. But if you can't, ask for some help so you can quit this unnecessary habit.

2. Eat fruits and vegetables

Have a balanced diet. Research has shown that fruits and vegetables are rich in antioxidants and flavonoids. These antioxidants and flavonoids help repair damaged cells therefore, they prevent lung cancer. In addition, they also help protect the DNA cells.

3. Get your home checked for Radon

Radon is a product of an element called uranium. It is an inert gas that cannot be seen, felt, smell or tasted. It can also lead to lung cancer. Most of the houses today are built of uranium deposits and these deposits occur naturally in the soil. Therefore, it is required to check your home to know the radon level.

4. Workplace exposure

It is best to know on what chemical elements are there in your workplace. Agents such as gasoline, diesel exhaust, arsenic, beryllium and many others can be found on your work environment. Fumes, dust and other chemicals are also common in the workplace. Talk to your boss to limit your exposure with these chemicals for they are dangerous to your health.

5. Passive smoking

Passive smoking is the inhalation of smoke coming from tobaccos and/or cigarettes. Research has shown that second hand smoke is more dangerous to our health and has more risk to get lung cancer than those who smoke. It is better if you stay away from smoking area or use a handkerchief to prevent inhaling second hand smokes.

Lung cancer is not just a simple disease that can be cured easily. Anyone can have lung cancer whether you are young or you are old. So people should have knowledge about it to avoid, if not to lessen, the risk of getting this terrifying illness.
